If it's spring, then the SZTE Alma Mater's Let's do this! challenge is here again, where we are counting on you with your individual results to find out which faculty or unit will be the sportiest and most active at the University of Szeged in the spring of 2025!
Based on the experiences of previous challenges, the SZTE Alma Mater 2025 spring challenge focuses only on the essentials: collect kilometers by running, cycling, or walking and help your chosen community reach the top of the podium!
The details of the challenge have been defined with the professional recommendations of the SZTE Sports Center:
Challenge Duration: April 7, 2025 – June 8, 2025
Challenge Goal:
Encouraging regular physical activity and promoting a healthy lifestyle by involving as many university members as possible.
Who Can Participate?
All former and current members of University of Szeged: SZTE alumni community, SZTE employees, current SZTE students.
How Can You Collect Kilometers?
🏃 Walking/Hiking
🏃♂️ Running
🚴 Cycling
🏊 Other: Swimming, self-powered water sports
The chosen activities can be performed both outdoors and in a gym (treadmill, indoor bike, rowing bench).
We ask all participants to participate fairly, meaning logging activity-related kilometres. In cases of doubt, the SZTE Alma Mater administrators may ask for additional proof of the kilometres in question, which will not be counted if refused.
We kindly ask everyone to carry out the sport activity in a responsible manner, to choose the distances and forms of exercise according to their own health and fitness, and to seek professional help and advice in case of uncertainty. SZTE Alma Mater cannot be held responsible for any injuries sustained during the challenge.
The participation process:
- Register on the new website of the SZTE Alma Mater: uniszegedalumni.com (Using Facebook or LinkedIn profile for registration makes the process faster)
Wait for the approval, then after logging in, find the "SZTE Let's Do This!" group and join it! - Download an app (e.g. Endomondo, STRAVA, Nike Run Club, Sport Tracker, ASICS run) to your phone or use the one you are used to.
- Choose a form of exercise!
- Start the app, than stop at the end of the activity, and save it. It's important that the kilometres you've done count, so choose a feature that makes this clear!
- Once a week, upload screenshots of the previous week to the "SZTE Let's Do This!" group on uniszegedalumni.com in a post and write next to them how many km you have done that week in total by category (walking, running, cycling, "other") and to which community ("Faculty" or "Unit") you want to donate it!
- Upload: every weekend, from Saturday 6:00 am to Monday 12:00 pm, until the 11th of June 2024. 12:00 pm! - Please upload your results continuously, week by week!
- Everyone should upload their own individual results, we can't take into account pictures and results uploaded by others.
- You can collect kilometres in a week with several different training sessions. - Check that SZTE colleagues have correctly recorded your submitted weekly performance. If you notice a mistake, report back! If you don't hear back by Friday after uploading, contact us at almamater@szte.hu!
Rewards beyond maintaining your health: coming soon
Common goal: coming soon
The announcement of results and the prize draw will take place at the SZTE Sports Center during the Alma Mater Weekend and Sports Day on June 14, 2025, between 10:00 and 12:00, and if the common goal is successfully achieved, the ceremonial handover will take place in September 2025 as part of IDUS (International University Sports Day).
At both events, we count on the active presence of participants with on-site challenges and activities!
Let's step up and collect kilometers together for the SZTE communities!
