For the seventeenth time, the prestigious SZTE Alma Mater Award was presented, which is awarded every year by the alumni organization of the University of Szeged to the company that is a significant employer of SZTE graduates, maintains close relations with the institution and supports the achievement of its goals. The award winner, Goodwill Pharma Nyrt., is not only a partner of several SZTE events, but also cooperates with the university in several research and development projects and has been offering internships to students at the University of Szeged for several years.
The winner received a Commemorative Certificate of Excellence and a glass award at the region's largest job search forum on 18 April 2023 at the SZTE Job Fair. The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Klára Gellén, Vice Rector for Education of the University of Szeged, followed by Dr. Tamás Bene, Director of International and Public Relations, who honored the 2023 Alma Mater of the Year Award winner. This year, the award was presented to Goodwill Pharma Nyrt., and was accepted by Dr. Ferenc Jójárt, founder and owner of it.
The company has a long history of supporting and assisting the university in the fields of education, research and medicine, and its prominent role is demonstrated by the fact that 30% of the company's employees, including those at its international locations, are former students of the University of Szeged. As Dr. Tamás Bene shared his story with us: Through the name and legacy of Albert Szent-Györgyi, the University of Szeged and Goodwill Pharma are connected, as the heirs of Albert Szent-Györgyi entrusted Goodwill Pharma with the care of the trademarked name Szent-Györgyi Albert, which they continue to do with humility and great respect, and it is thanks to their intercession that the Faculty of Medicine can once again bear the name of Albert Szent-Györgyi.
For the past 17 years, the Alma Mater Award of the University of Szeged has been awarded every year to a company or organization that has close scientific and/or professional ties with the University of Szeged, supports the achievement of its goals and is a major employer of students graduating from Szeged.
After receiving the award, Dr. Ferenc Jójárt emphasized that the Alma Mater Award confirms that the cooperation between the company and the university is not in vain.
Since the alumni organization has no secret intention of increasing the employment and marketability of former and current students, in addition to the cooperation, they always look at the last two years of the scoring criteria for the companies applying. On this basis, each year the application is open to the winners of the previous years, and companies take advantage of this opportunity year after year. This year's winner, despite numerous collaborations, applied and won for the first time this year. The evaluation criteria cover not only the employment of former students, but also the support of research, as well as assistance and practical and entrepreneurial skills of the students, and Goodwill Pharma Nyrt. is an active partner of the University of Szeged in all these areas.
We thank Goodwill Pharma Nyrt. for their cooperation so far and congratulate them for receiving special attention during the year and for being eligible for the "SZTE Alma Mater Award 2023." in its corporate communications.
