The 16th cycle of the Alumni Mentor Program was opened in a festive manner as a part of the centennial celebration at the University of Szeged on the 8th October with new and old mentors, as well as with their undergraduate students.
The Alumni Mentor Program is unique in the Hungarian Universities because in the program SZTE graduates share their professional knowledge and experience with students who are preparing for a similar work area through monthly interactions with one or more students who are still studying at the University of Szeged. Students may develop a more realistic picture of their future work and employers ' aspects and they will have a better start working in the labour market.
Its success is based on the selfless help of participating mentors, who are tirelessly supporting and supporting students even though they work. The connection between the mentor and the mentoring student is different than a normal internship bacause during the program there is no need day-to-day interaction, the communication is much more flexible.
The Alumni Mentor Program started its working in 2014 and it is developing step by step since then. The management of the corporation is happening on the uniszegedalumni.com where students can find mentors and just ask them a couple questions as a fleshmentoring instead of attending in the Alumni Mentorprogram. This year, besides of supporting undergraduates, the Alumni Mentor Club has started where mentors can help each other, for example old mentors can give advice for new mentors, they can ask from them, develop each other’s skills or generate new corporation.
Our alumni community continues to expand and rise its strength. Right now we have 639 potentional mentor. To keep the quality of the mentor community, we lean on our all-time mentors who are supporting the Alumni Mentor Program since the beginning. We thanked to Seres Erika, Dr. Haranfozó Gábor, Némethné Pálfy Mariann for their hard work they did for the alumni community and gifted them for the foundation of the Alumni Mentor Club.
